Land Use Planning: Landscapes for Living
Land use planning (LUP )is an art or a technique to create and support efficient urban activities and achieve a pleasant urban environment for sustainable development of Land resources by appropriately defining land uses. It is a systematic and iterative procedure. Land use planning refers to the systematic assessment of land to ensure that the use of land and water areas and building activities on them create preconditions for a favourable living environment and promote ecologically, economically, socially and culturally sustainable development.
Land Use Planning (LUP) includes different ways and methods from the well-defined areas of development due to cultural, historical and environmental reasons and establishing provisions that help control the nature of development activities. Such agents are helpful to determine various qualities such as surface ratio, plot areas, land consumption, the floor-area ratio, their density or units of that activity or people per 10000 square meters. It enables optimal and sustainable use of land resources and empowers people to make decisions about how to allocate those resources.
